My name is Ranger, and I’m a young mixed breed dog with a big heart and even bigger dreams. I’m currently in Miami, safe now, but not long ago, I was fighting to survive in one of the city’s most dangerous neighborhoods.

I was just a stray, sitting quietly on the sidewalk, scavenging parking lots and streets for anything to eat. I wasn’t bothering anyone—I was just waiting, hoping someone kind would come for me. But instead of kindness, neighbors threatened to take my life. And when rescuers showed up to help me, other neighbors tried to stop them—threatening to call the police. You know what my rescue said? “Do it then.” They weren’t leaving me behind. And I’m so thankful they didn’t.

Now I’m safe under the rescue and finally starting to learn what it means to be a dog with a home. I’ve got a lot of energy and excitement for life—like I’m making up for lost time. I’m silly, jumpy, and completely obsessed with toys (seriously, I can’t get enough!). I’ve also discovered that I love water—if there’s a splash zone, I’m in it. Give me a hose, kiddie pool, or beach day and I’m the happiest boy around.

Because I lived on the streets, I didn’t get a chance to learn much about structure or manners, so I’m still working on obedience. I’ve been known to accidentally mouth at human hands when we are playing together with toys—I promise I’m not trying to be rude, I just don’t totally know the rules yet. But I’m trying really hard to do better. I want to be the best boy I can be—I just need someone to teach me how.

I’m making progress leash walking too. I’m smart, eager, and full of potential—I just need someone patient and committed to helping me grow.

I don’t get along with every dog, but I’ve done well with a few. I’d probably be happiest as the only dog in the home so I can have all your love (and all the toys and splash zones) to myself. Trust me—I’ll give you more than enough energy, love, and laughs to fill the whole house.
